We offer two types of massage training. Their details and differences are outlined below.

Holistic Massage, Accredited by ITEC

This training will teach all the main aspects of holistic massage and its techniques. You will gain the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide Massage treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the Massage Industry.  The course provides students with a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology of the body so that they have a complete knowledge of the structure and functions of each area on which they are working. The course includes holistic massage incorporating the classical movements treating the whole body.

The course includes details on the history and origin of massage, the benefits and effects of massage,  consultation, how to create a treatment plan, after care advice, professional conduct and business training, contradictions to treatments, how to follow up, awareness of other therapies and more.

The course is run on weekends over a year and costs 1900€.  There is a separate external examination fee (not more than 120€), cost for books, your personal towels and your personal oils.

Sports Massage, Accredited by ITEC

The main aim of the ITEC, QQI Level 5 Diploma in Sports Massage is to enable Learners to gain the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide Sports Massage treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the Sports Industry. This qualification provides a sound platform into further training.

This qualification is for Learners who want to work within the Sports Industry.

The main skills are:

  • Consultation methods – to include obtaining informed consent prior to assessments and application of the massage where necessary, carrying out accurate client assessments including body alignment/posture, range of movement/joint function, muscle definition, active, passive and resistive movement and palpation, informing the client of the possible cautions and contraindications to massage before commencing any treatments, referral procedures and adapting the massage routine to meet the specific needs of the client
  • Applying Sports Massage Treatments – to include preparing a safe and hygienic working environment, performing pre-event and post-event massage techniques, classical massage techniques and sports specific massage techniques including manual lymphatic drainage, neuro- muscular technique, muscle energy technique, soft tissue release, connective tissue massage and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, maintenance, application of cryotherapy and thermotherapy, selecting massage mediums, evaluating the effectiveness of the treatment and giving aftercare advice
  • This training is highly beneficial in everyday life and not just for sports people or sports injuries

The course is run on weekends over a year and costs 1850€.  There is a separate external examination fee (not more than 100€), cost for books, your personal towels and your personal oils.
